Spider Road Press celebrated Women’s History Month with our second Annual Celebration of Women’s Words. This reading by Texan women authors took place on March 3, 2019. This diverse gathering of over twenty female-identifying creatives was a true delight to experience! The variety of backgrounds and genres transported the audience to multiple worlds and shared interesting and new viewpoints, which is the blessed, uncanny ability of story. From Wyoming to outer space, from protective mothers to paranormal beings, we saw through different eyes and felt another’s emotions for a time. It was a true gift to hear these writers’ words and meet other like-minded creative souls in the local writing community. As women writers, we share similar challenges, goals, and hopes. When we meet, converse, and discuss these topics, we grow.

Every month is Women’s History Month at Spider Road Press. We care about women all the time. It’s our desire to share with the world the battles they fight, the foes they vanquish, and their visions for the future. Whether through poems, flash fiction, short stories, novellas or novels, we love to publish unique works featuring complex, female-identifying characters. We think our bookshelves should look more like the diverse world around us. We promote gutsy fiction containing richly portrayed female–identifying  characters and intriguing plots.

Stories are wonderful catalysts. Reading fiction has been shown to infuse empathy and compassion. At Spider Road Press, it’s our desire to expand this truth with tangible offerings to worthy causes. 5% from our proceeds from the sales of our various collections of stories, poems, and flash fiction are donated to charities, such as the Houston Area Women’s Center, the Boston Area Rape Crisis Center, Disabled American Veterans, and RAINN. These organizations address the issues of sexual assault, domestic violence, supporting American veterans, and empowering girls. We are proud to donate to these causes and thank our readers for helping us do so!
